February...
It was his. Justin gazed at the golden trophy in his hands. It was all his. His Grammy. It was truly
the best moment of his entire career, even though he had to apologize for the "boob incident" in order to recieve his reward
on the air. He didn't care though. Yes, it had been embarassing, humilating even. He would never work with Janet Jackson again.
But right now none of it mattered. He had a Grammy in his hands. A Grammy with his name on it.
He wished Dru could
be here to see this.
He had spoken to her on the phone a couple of times over the holidays. She was good...happy. Danny
and Christina had showed her the world...how to live...how to be a strong, independent woman. Having listened to her tone
of voice, he could tell she was far different from the girl he had stumbled upon so many months ago.
He was proud
of her.
He often thought of her at times like this. Special times...quiet times. Times when he felt lonely...depressed.
No, he wasn't with anybody right now. There was too much going on. The girls he had dated didn't want to see him for
who he was inside. That wasn't exciting. The celebrity part of him...that was all they wanted to see. Dru had never looked
at him that way though...never once.
He still missed her.
"Congratulations."
He looked up. Dru? He blinked
several times, not believing his eyes. She was still there. This was real. "Dru," he smiled. "Hey."
"Hi." She smiled.
They
sat in the dressing room together. They talked as if she had been with him all this time. No, nothing had changed. She was
still the same Dru inside...except she was stronger...much stronger. She told him about the tour, about how she got her GED.
She told him how much she loved to be onstage...that it was because of him that she had discovered her hidden talent.
Then
it was time to go. It was another sad goodbye, but this time he knew, no matter what direction their lives would take, they
would always have that bond...
A bond as strong and long lasting as their talents, their ambitions, and their love.
The End
